Friday Flashback – The Quilted Circle – New Free Design

Hello, and welcome to another Friday flashback.  Today I am going to re-introduce you to the first “quilting” collection I ever made – The Quilted Circle

It was 2010 when I created these designs.  Cameron was 6, and in kindergarten, and Grace & Emma were spending their last year at home with me full time.

One of the things that I love when I look back at some of the older designs I created, is just thinking of how much the machines have changed since then.  Back in 2010, I was using a range of machines, one of which had a 350mm square hoop, however the design would only work if you flipped the hoop around, and re-aligned it.

The quilted circles are a collection of 11 different circle designs, created in a single running stitch, making them perfect for alternate blocks, or the backgrounds of designs.

I still use these designs regularly.  Because they come in 5 different sizes, they can be used on multiple machines, everything from 5×7, to 12×12”.

I love these designs the most as alternate blocks, and they can make the creation of a quilt fast and simple.

One of my favourite tricks I use when I do quilting in the hoop, is to use a multi tonal thread, it doesn’t detract from the fabrics or other designs, but gives the overall look of the project another level of interest.

Initially when I created this collection, we gave away the first design in this collection as a freebie.  You can access this design HERE.  As a thank you to all of our loyal customers, for the next week we are also offering a second Quilted Circle design as a free download.  Simply click HERE to collect your copy.

Thank you for taking this trip down memory lane with me, I hope you have enjoyed looking at this collection, and that it has inspired you to try quilting on your embroidery machine.

Until next time, have a Stitchin’ Day.  Julie
