Hello, and welcome to another Friday Flashback. This week we are looking at a gorgeous Candlewicking collection. Candlewick Teddy Bears.
These bears were the second candlewick teddy designs I had created, and were inspired by a quilt I had made back before I began machine embroidery, using traditional Candlewicking. I wanted a collection which looked like traditional Candlewicking, but still had the ease of machine embroidery.
One of the great things about machine embroidered Candlewicking is how quick it is to do – there is no colour changes, and I have taken a lot of time and trouble in creating my machine embroidery Candlewicking stitch, so that it has full texture like traditional Candlewicking.
The Candlewick Teddy Bear collection includes 15 different candlewick teddy bear designs. When I was creating these, I really wanted something which could be used for either boys or girls, and I think I made something worthwhile.
I have made 2 different baby quilts using these designs over the years, and a trick I have found, is to create the blocks in a neutral colour, piece the entire quilt all together, and then once the baby is born (and you find out if it is a boy or a girl), I finish the entire quilt off using a cotton lace, with ribbon threaded through in the parents favourite colours.
Initially when I created the Candlewick Teddy Bear collection, we gave away a design in this collection as a freebie. You can access this design HERE. As a thank you to all of our loyal customers, for the next week we are also offering a second Candlewick Teddy Bear design as a free download. Simply click HERE to collect your copy.
Thank you for taking this trip down memory lane with me, I hope you have enjoyed looking at this collection, and that it has inspired you to try some of these beautiful Candlewicking designs.
Until next time, have a Stitchin’ Day. Julie
