Friday Flashback – Shoe Shine – New Free Design

Hello and welcome to another Friday Flashback.

Sorry for not posting for a long time, I have been rushed off my feet with shows, preparing for shows, and planning for my Mother-In-Law’s entry into an aged care facility.

However, today I am going to share a fantastic Friday Flashback with you – one of my absolute favourite sketch style collections – Shoe Shine!

This collection originally came to be, as a part of my love of Sex & The City series, and the fantastic shoes they all wear.

I have a size 11½ foot, so the odds of me wearing any of the gorgeous shoes is pretty slim, but that does not stop one of my bucket list items being owning a pair of fabulous shoes, to place on the wall, like art.

So to indulge this love, I asked my favourite artist to create a collection for me, of designer styled shoes.  I love the sketch stitch style, so that was my go to style for these shoes, and I wanted something I could embellish with crystals if wished.  And Shoe Shine was born.

These designs came together so quickly, I think I digitised the entire collection over 3 days, and then the fun part started, with me thinking of what to make with the designs.

The first thing I made was the basic quilt – I needed something to show off lots of the designs, and I wanted I really just wanted to show the stunning simplicity of the designs themselves.

Around this time, my niece Ally came down to visit me in Melbourne, and we wanted to make something for her.  We found the amazing Cinderella quote, and both fell in love with it.

Cinderella is proof that a great pair of shoes can change your life

Ally made herself a t-shirt with the designs and quote, and I created the Cinderella wallhanging.

Throughout the years, I have also made shoe travel bags using these designs (just your basic drawstring bag).

Since I first brought these designs out (about 9 years ago now), other digitizers/designs have also brought out shoe embroidery designs, I still love the whimsical nature of these designs, and how lovely they are to stitch out.

Initially when I created Shoe Shine, we gave away a design in this collection as a freebie.  You can access this design HERE.  As a thank you to all of our loyal customers, for the next week we are also offering a second Shoe Shine design as a free download.  Simply click HERE to collect your copy.

Thank you for taking this trip down memory lane with me, I hope you have enjoyed looking at this collection, and that it has inspired you to try some of these amazing designs.

Until next time, have a Stitchin’ Day.  Julie
